I've mocked up an exterior for the cake shop but am yet to add more elements to brand it. I have added slight things like triangular windows and door handles but need to add colours, logo and name. I struggle with this changing the perspective etc and making it look realistic so will to either get some help just experiment.

mock ups
I've printed out mock ups of what I have so far from the crit, I like that it is starting to come together as a brand and working together. There are some obvious alterations to be made and I need to print properly onto the correct stock.
On some of the bunting the logo is slightly illegible because of the colours, I need to reconsider the colours or the design, if the logo needs to be on every triangle.
Again with the packaging I am unsure if the logo on every face of it is a bit unneccessary. The only thing is is that the package can sit any way because it has so many faces so if the logo was on only one it may not be seen.

Menus
I have been playing with some ideas for the menu, they wont need to be very big content wise but I want the layout to be unique and realte to the maths brand.
I have decided that I want the menus to be in the form of a maths exercise book, printed on graph paper, I bought these books off ebay and have taken one apart to see how I can use it. Unfortunately the current size is just larger than A4 making it more difficult to print. I am thinkin of taking the exiting pages out, trimming down the cover and inserting my own pages.
I want to fill the menu a bit with some different aspects and interactive pages. I don't want to make it annoying for the customer to use and navigate but maybe include a large logo, colours and patterns and tag line.
I need to work out how to layout the pages so that they fit in order. For one of the first pages I want to have a die cut triangle from the logo and behind this have the pattern which I used for the receipt holder behind it. I also want to include a large logo, probably printed on the graph paper. I want to also have terms and words which realte the themes of cakes and maths.

Receipt holder
Another product I am producing for the range is a receipt holder along with receipts. It may not be important to keep hold of the receipt for a cake shop but I think it will add to the brand and add to the consistency.
I drew down some ideas of different style and shapes which I could use, keeping the brand in mind.
I decided on this two triangles which slot together to create a square which the receipt sits inside the two traingles.
Mock ups
I really like the way they slot together, this was a bit of a tight fit so needs to be enlarged slightly but still needs to be quite tight so that it doesn't just slide off, I'll also have to cinsider the stock and give way for folds if it's thicker.

I played with the idea of the scale again, this time down the side like a graph scale.
I then decided to play around with geometric patterns like I had looked at in my research and using the 8 consistent colours created triangular patterns using 4 sets of 2 colours and repeated this.
I really like this kind of pattern and think it brightens up the theme of maths.
For the back I picked out the colours used in the pattern and am going to create a series of 3 or 4.

Bunting
Adding to the brand I am creating some bunting which would be hung around the shop, I thought it was appropriate first of all because of the standard shape used in bunting. I thought about alternating the shapes, possibly using a range of different triangle types or different shapes that could still hang at the top.
Designs
I tried out a number of design, initially I used a measuring scale/ruler along the top of the triangles, I'm not sure if it is a bit irrelevant but I want to add things which relate to the theme and not just place the logo on to everything.

I used the idea of the scale again and added this dashed line down the middle to create a mathematical feel, alternating these with the logo. I prefer the designs which alternate designs.

I added the logo underneath the scale to carry the brand on and to promote it throughout the shop when hung. I'm not sure if the logo needs to be on each traingle.
These designs use only the logo and the 8 consistent colours, I do like the look of these ones with just the logo but I want to add something else to them. Maybe alternate so that the logo is on every other triangle.

Packaging
Some of the feedback from the crit was to maybe look at other shapes so I have started looking at more complicated 3D shapes this would relate to the stlye and shape of the loyalty card. Also if I included different shapes it will hoepfully focus on the geometric side of the brand.
I looked into a octahedron first of all which would have eight sides like two pyramids together but this wouldn't work for the packaging of a cake as it doesn't sit flat and so would either need an insert or to be changed.
I then looked into a dodecahedron which includes 12 5 sided faces, I thought this shape was more interesting and would work well because it its flat and would be interactive and interesting to hold or recieve as you packaging for a cake.

I made a basic net for the packaing, the tabs will probably need some altering, but I made it and printed it just tosee the size when put together and if it was feasable for a cake package.
I really like the shape of the package and that it is quite unique for a package design but hopefully it fits well with the brand
I added some of the 8 colours I have been using consistently throughout the brand, 6 repreated colours.

I did a quick mock up just to see how the colours work, I am thinkin that possibly more of the 8 colours need to be used to keep it consistent and also some tabe will need to be altered for actually use as a package and to increase the ease and speed of using the packaging.
